Metal soaps (Fatty acid metal salts)

Metal soaps are defined as metal salts (except for alkali metals) of long-chain fatty acids and organic acid. They have basic characteristics such as lubricity, dispersibility, water repellency, and gelation property by having both polar moiety and nonpolar moiety. For these characteristics, they are used as lubricants or mold release agents for synthetic resins, tableting, and metal processing. Moreover, they are used in various ways, for example, anti-tack agent in rubber manufacture, pigment dispersant, and coated abrasive. Also, they are oil soluble, and they are used for powder metallurgy and casting, and used as vulcanization accelerants, drying accelerants for coating materials, and as chlorine scavenger.

Functional additives

Functional additives are used as lubricants for thermosetting resins, thermoplastic resins, metal powder, etc.
•Additives used to reduce friction between the material and the machine (external lubricant).
•Additives used to reduce friction between the particles of the material (internal lubricant).
 In both cases, they improve mold releasability, fluidity, and workability.
•Dispersing aid for filler.
